Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-25
This Privacy Policy explains what information The Fifth Tutor (“we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by RayRay Labs, collects when you use fifthtutor.com (the “Service”), how we use it, and your choices.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — used to send sign-in codes, verification messages, and (if you opt in) product updates.
- Display name and avatar (if you choose to provide one) — shown on your profile and on any decks you mark public.
- Deck content — cards, names, descriptions, and notes for any decks you create or import.
- Feedback — messages you send through the “Report Issue” or synergy-flag features.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Service, our servers automatically receive standard request information:
- IP address (used for rate limiting and abuse prevention).
- Browser and device information (user-agent, operating system, screen size) — used to render the UI correctly.
- Pages viewed, search queries, and interactions — used to improve the Service and diagnose issues. We do not currently run third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
1.3 Cookies and Local Storage
The Service uses a small number of first-party cookies:
- Authentication cookies (set by our sign-in flow) — strictly necessary to keep you signed in. These are session-scoped or short-lived.
- Theme preference cookie (
fifthtutor-theme) — remembers your chosen color theme so the site renders without a flash of the default theme. Expires after one year. - Cookie-consent cookie — remembers your dismissal of the cookie notice so we don't show it repeatedly.
We do not use third-party analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or cross-site tracking. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers.
You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings at any time. Doing so will sign you out and reset your theme preference.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate, secure, and improve the Service.
- Authenticate your sign-in requests.
- Store and display your decks, lists, and preferences.
- Respond to your feedback and support requests, and to fix bugs or quality issues you report.
- Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or scraping.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in these limited cases:
- Service providers — infrastructure, authentication, and email-delivery vendors that process data on our behalf under written confidentiality obligations.
- Legal compliance — when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of RayRay Labs, our users, or the public.
- Public content — content you explicitly mark public (for example, a deck shared via a public link) will be visible to other users and search engines.
4. Data Retention
We retain account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information from active systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, tax records). Aggregated or anonymized data that no longer identifies you may be retained indefinitely.
5. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords (where applicable), access controls on our infrastructure, and least-privilege principles for internal access. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach involving your data, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you.
- Object to or restrict our processing of your data.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent for any processing that relies on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@fifthtutor.com. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. International Users
The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws than your jurisdiction.
9. Third-Party Services
Some features may rely on third-party services (for example, email-delivery providers or authentication services). These providers have their own privacy practices that govern their handling of your data.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, an in-app notice or email).
